The name started as a childhood insult. Sergey, said cruelly, folds into two English words: Sir Gay. What was meant to shrink a queer kid in Eastern Europe became, years later, the stage identity of the man behind the decks.
DJ Sir Gay connects queer freedom, Eastern European pop memory and Los Angeles nightlife — a signal for people living between cultures, languages and eras. The dancefloor is where the exile, the diaspora and the future all get to occupy the same room.
